This photo is especially fascinating. I've just spent a long time looking at the colors and patterns, shadows and light, and the large head and eye of the baby alligator. Although I did see an adult alligator when I visited my sister in Mississippi in 2007, it's another experience altogether looking at a baby alligator with its skinny little legs and vulnerability.
It is like that in the wild, too. We often go to a nature preserve (with an elevated walkway) looking for the babies. Hard to find, but they are there.
It took a minute to find the baby alligator, but when I did, it was all I saw.
